Books For Toddlers – Diggers and Dumpers by Jane Horne

Diggers and Dumpers Book For Toddlers Review

Diggers and Dumpers is a cute, easy to carry around, touch and feel book about contraction site machines. It features a dump truck, backhoe loader, bulldozer, excavator, and a wheel loader. Each machine is shown on a colorful two-page layout, with one touch and feel area per machine.

Reading To Toddlers Benefits
On each page kids are asked to find a hidden object on the picture. This encourages their participation. I like that each machine is featured with a set of simple statistics. For example, it tells how deep into the ground an excavator can dig. We started reading this book to our son when he was 18 months old. This was probably the very first time our son was exposed to machine component names, measurements, and statistics. You would be surprised how early kids are able to start to grasp these concepts.

About Diggers And Dumpers
Diggers And Dumpers is a construction site book for toddlers. Publisher’s recommendation for age is between two and four, which is in line with our experience, although we started slowly introducing it to our son around 18 months. His interest for this toddler book peaked between his second and third birthday. Diggers And Dumpers is easy to carry, hard cover and touch and feel book for toddlers. Its dimensions, eight by six inches, allow for easy packing when traveling.
